things to do
Halo Mano is located in Koloa, HI – the perfect central location for exploring the most beautiful island in the world. We are thirty minutes away from the airport, Waimea Canyon, and the Napali Coast boat docks. Or for those days on the beach, we are only a six minute walk to one of Kauai’s best surf breaks and sandiest beach.
To help you plan, here’s a list of some of our favorite places:
Brennecke's Beach - One of the world's best boogie board breaks is only a 6-minute walk from Halo Mano. It's also a great place to catch some sun or a sun rise.
-
Left/Lefts - A top tier long board break is a simple 7-minute walk.
-
The Sheraton Beach - A 10 to 15 minute walk gets you to the world famous Sheraton Beach - a great place to learn how to ride waves and one of the best beaches on the island for taking in some sun.
-
Shipwreck's Beach - One of the most dramatic beaches on the south shore. It's where the ocean meets the rocks and sand. Fantastic surfing in the summer and gorgeous views of whales in the winter.
Brennecke's - A local favorite that serves the best Mai Tai's in the world!
-
Da Crack - Being from Texas, we know good Mexican food. Da Crack is surprisingly on point and a quick drive up Poipu Road.
-
Avenue Cafe - Known for a fantastic breakfast lineup.
-
Pietro's Pizza - Solid pizza for dining in or carrying out!
-
The Beach House - Have a nice dinner with the family while overlooking the south shore.
-
Little Fish - An island favorite... Fantastic coffee!
Nukumoi Surf Shop - Our home surf shop that's been a staple on Poipu Beach for decades.
-
Poipu Shipping Village - Everything from a Starbucks to souvenir shops.
-
The Shops at KuKui'ula - Some high-end shopping, lots of restaurants, and home of Poipu Surf Shop.
-
Old Town Koloa - The old city center is full of eccentric shopping, food, and even a grocery store or two.
-
Koloa Big Save - A decent sized grocery store within 10 minutes of Hale Mano.
-
Costco Lihue - A 30-minute drive from Koloa and probably the best place on the island to stock up on basics for your trip.
Hanalei Town - Yes, traffic can get unruly on the old beach roads of the north shore, but it's hard not to recommend a visit to one of our favorite towns on earth.
-
Waimea Canyon - It's like the Grand Canyon... only GRANDER because it has water falls! Bring your hiking shoes and some water and prepare to have your breath taken.
-
Kilauea Light House - Remarkable views from the old east shore lighthouse.
-
Napali Coast - The pictures don't do it justice... Neither do the movies. To experience the Napali Coast, you just have to see it for yourself. We recommend touring the coast by air, but by sea works just as well too!
