A Family of 5
Almost twenty years ago, we had our honeymoon on the island of Kauai. We stayed near Poipu, drove every road on the island, and fell in love with Hawaii, her people, and her culture. So much so, that we’ve come back every chance we’ve had through the years.
During those trips, each of our three kids grew their own relationships with Kauai. Our oldest is a surfer, our middle kid lives for sunsets, and our youngest lives in the water.
As fate would have it, we were all on the island in 2020 when Covid-19 hit. Lockdown, quarantine, and stress lead us to madness and it wasn’t long before we did something really irresponsible – A family of 5 from Texas bought a little 1960’s beach house in Koloa, HI.
We would have been nervous about the life implications of such a rash decision, but we had so much work ahead of us that we just didn’t have time to waste the stoke. The floors needed replacing, the kitchen redone, and the walls removed and re-painted. And, of course, there was plenty of decorating and maintaining to do.
The idea of Hale Mano was to keep the house’s mid-century modern roots while updating it’s livability to a more modern standard. I think we’ve done that and hope you enjoy the home as much as we have.
See, Hale Mano is now a sacred place for our family. It’s where we go to live and where we always yearn to be.
Sincerely,
